The Austin History Center Association has been honored to revive the Katherine Drake Hart Award after 13 years, honoring an individual that has been instrumental in preserving Austin’s RiCH and DIVERSE history. The 2019 award was presented today to Dr. Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez.
Also today we presented the 2007 Award that was never presented to Michael Barnes the year the organization ended the award for some challenging times for the group. The AHCA has been so grateful to be able the have this important recognition brought back.
The very special award was designed by noted Austin architect, Bob Coffee. Bob Coffee was one of the founding members of the Austin History and Austin History Center Association in the late 70s.
The presentation had to be kept to a very bare minimum of 10 attendees and was filmed by Joe Bryson with Ted Lee Eubanks taking photographs. Judge Joe Hart, son of Katherine Hart attended the presentations.
