Big Moves at the AHC

Updated: May 8, 2021

Congratulations are in order for two longtime friends of the AHCA!

Mike Miller, who for 14 years served as Austin city archivist and manager/director of the Austin History Center, has resigned his position to take the position of executive director of the Rosenberg Library in Galveston. His last day at the AHC was April 2. During his time as city archivist, Mike revitalized the AHC’s exhibits program and grew the Community Archives program. Mike’s new work home, the Rosenberg Library, is the oldest public library in Texas in continuous operation, first offering free library service in January 1871. It also houses the Rosenberg Library Museum and the Galveston and Texas History Center.

Mike’s departure opened the door for Nancy Toombs to be named interim division manager for the AHC. Nancy has been the Head of Public Services at the AHC for more than 10 years and prior to that, she served as branch manager at the Spicewood Springs branch of the Austin Public Library.

We wish Mike and his family great success in Galveston and we look forward to working more with Nancy in her new role at the AHC!
