McGhee Takes Over As AHC Division Manager

Danielle McGhee has settled into her role as Division Manager of the Austin History Center. McGhee was hired for the position earlier this spring and took over management duties in March.

Prior to coming to the AHC, McGhee previously served as Library Director and University Archivist at Huston-Tillotson University, Austin’s oldest institution of higher learning. McGhee describes herself as passionate about preserving community history and promoting lifelong learning. She values connecting community with resources to fuel successful storytellers, researchers, and artists.

As AHC division manager, McGhee succeeds Nancy Toombs, who served as acting division manager for almost a year after long-time city archivist and division manager Mike Miller left in April 2021, to take the position of executive director of the Rosenberg Library in Galveston.

McGhee received her Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Merchandising from Howard University in 2010 and a Master of Library Science from North Carolina Central University in 2012. She served six years as Head Librarian at Brentwood Christian School and four years in her position at Huston-Tillotson University before coming to the AHC.

Since becoming division manager in March, McGhee has attended meetings of the AHCA executive committee and board of directors. She also attended the May 15 annual meeting and is eager to support AHCA’s work to support the AHC.
